Running for a Cause: My Journey to the Gold Coast Marathon for Cystic Fibrosis

One week down, eleven to go! As I lace up my running shoes and settle into my training block for the Gold Coast Marathon, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervous energy. The road ahead—42.2 kms of pure endurance—is daunting, but the motivation behind my run makes every step worth it.

I’m running this marathon not just for myself, but for those who face a much tougher battle every single day—individuals living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic condition that primarily affects the lungs, making every breath a challenge. While I have the privilege of training with healthy lungs, those with CF don’t get that choice. Their marathon is lifelong, marked by treatments, hospital stays, and the constant fight for air.

This run is my way of showing solidarity, raising awareness, and, most importantly, generating funds to support research, treatments, and resources for those affected by CF. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to better care, better treatments, and ultimately, a cure.

So, as I push through these next eleven weeks of training, I invite you to join me—whether it’s through donating, sharing this cause, or simply cheering me on. Together, we can make a difference and give those with CF the breath they deserve.
