Sweatember WA

I'm taking part in Sweatember

I’m getting sweaty this September to raise vital funds for Cystic Fibrosis WA (CFWA).

CFWA provides essential support, services and resources to people living with CF across Western Australia, while also investing in research to improve treatments and quality of life.

While progress has been made, there’s still so much more to be done.

All funds raised through Sweatember WA will help continue this vital work - supporting people with CF today and driving better outcomes for the future.

Please consider making a donation and sharing my page with your friends and family to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support!

Why it is so important to me that Beau breathes easy

Wednesday 12th Aug
If you’ve landed on this page, you’ve probably seen my post about Sweatember and my slightly ambitious challenge of 10 sit-ups, 10 push-ups and 10,000 steps every day throughout September.

But I wanted to share a little bit more about why I’m doing it.

My nephew, Beau, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was just two weeks old. He’s now seven years old, which means CF has been part of his life for as long as he can remember.

For most of us, exercise is something we choose to do. For someone living with CF, looking after their lungs and managing their health is a much bigger part of everyday life. Medications, physio, treatments, appointments and hospital visits can all be part of the routine.

And behind Beau every step of the way are my sister and brother-in-law. I honestly think they are superheroes. They’ve spent the last seven years learning everything they can about CF, managing Beau’s medications and treatments, doing physio, advocating for him and, most importantly, making sure that CF doesn’t define who he is.

Because Beau is so much more than his CF. He’s seven. He’s funny, cheeky, energetic and completely himself. And I want him to have every opportunity to keep being exactly that.

So, why Sweatember?

I wanted to do something that would help raise awareness of CF while also raising some money to support the work being done to improve the lives of people like Beau.

So I’ve challenged myself to 10-10-10:

10 sit-ups.
10 push-ups.
10,000 steps.
Every day in September.

I’ve also set myself the goal of building a team of 10 people: Breathe Easy, Beau.

And this is where you come in.

You don't need to be an athlete. You don't need to take on the same challenge as me. You don't even have to fundraise if that's not your thing.

If you join the team, you're helping us get more people talking about cystic fibrosis and understanding what living with CF actually involves. And if you do want to fundraise, that's fantastic too.

Every person who joins, every conversation started and every dollar raised helps.

Most importantly, it’s a little way for me to show Beau that we're behind him.

So thank you for being here, for taking the time to learn a little bit about CF, and hopefully for getting involved with Breathe Easy, Beau.
