Help children like Evie this Matched Giving Day
At just two weeks old, Evie was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis following her newborn screening test.
Her parents had no idea she could have CF and were completely shocked when they received the call from the CF nurse. Overnight, their lives changed forever.
Now seven years old, Evie is a bright, loving and resilient little girl who faces the challenges of CF with remarkable courage. While other children may take their health for granted, Evie's days are shaped by daily physiotherapy, medications, specialist appointments and occasional hospital stays.
Yet despite everything, she continues to embrace life with a smile. She loves Irish dancing, swimming and spending time with her friends, enjoying every opportunity to simply be a kid.
Like all parents, Evie's mum hopes for a bright and secure future for her daughter.
She dreams of a future where Evie can live as independently as possible, pursue her goals and opportunities, and spend less time worrying about the impact of CF on her health, education and career.
The difference your support makes
CFWA provides practical support that helps ease some of the pressure on Evie's family.
Through CFWA's physiotherapy support service, a community support worker visits the family's home twice a week to assist with Evie's physiotherapy. This gives her parents valuable time to prepare meals, catch up on work, spend time with Evie's brother, or simply take a much-needed moment to recharge.
The family also benefits from educational resources, school support and financial assistance programs that help reduce some of the additional costs that come with managing a lifelong condition.
